savings programs and other financial hacks

The businesses of finance are getting better at finding ways to get potential customers to use their products. Many years ago, you simply used a bank or a credit card because of the convenience. Today, you use the card to enrich yourself with perks and freebies. Case in point, I currently use a Capital One Vantage Card to pay all of my bills. You can then pay yours bills by sending the credit card company the money. They reward you by giving you “miles” or points. These points can add up to free trips and hotel rooms most anywhere in the world. You can check out Capital One Vantage here

The example I gave above is a very well known version of a rewards program. But, did you know there are other ways to earn money back that are not so mainstream or well known.

Money Back for Just Paying Rent

Most credit card companies do not allow you to pay your rent with their card. But now, there is a credit card which not only allows you to pay your rent (and gives you points back), but encourages you to do so. The best part is that if you connect your bank account to the card then the amount doesn’t even get subtracted from your available spending credit. This will help you avoid negatively affecting your credit rating. They simply pull the money from your bank and then cut your landlord/mortgage company a check or electronic payment. If you do this you earn about $650 back in perks every 2-3 years time just from rent alone. You can cash these points for flights and hotel stays. There are no credit card fees for rent payments.

So what is this card? Its called BILT Master Card and is backed by Wells. Use that link to get a sign referral bonus.

4% Savings Account

You read that correctly. I can link you to a savings account that pays you 4% interest on your money. Upgrade is a new company backed by Cross River Bank which will pay you 4% on your savings. All you have to do is signup for a checking account. Once you do this, you will then be given the option to sign up for their savings account. The account is FDIC insured. This is something which many people have heard a lot about lately and is very important when saving your fiat currency. I would recommend never storing more than the FDIC limit of $250K in any single savings account. You also get 2% cash back on purchases for your checking debit card and a $50 bonus when using this link to sign up.

Bank Account with Free Overdraft and Early Paycheck Options

There is a card that allows you to regularly get paid two days before your actual paycheck shows up. Plus, it then allows you to add a free overdraft protection to your account.

The company is a virtual bank and is run through an app. They send you a debit card. They also have a community where you can pay your friends for free, much like Venmo.  The company is called Chime and now you can Get $100 when signing up and depositing by using this link now.

Conclusion

There are many ways to get free perks and cash back when spending money like you normally do. It really only takes minutes to get going on these programs. You can make yourself a ton of extra money in the process.

We plan to add to this blog as time moves forward and we find outstanding deals from companies like the ones we mentioned above.
