Why Having a Website for Your Business is Just as Important as Ever

The integration of AI into search results has been a very handy tool for everyone. Instead of having to comb through dozens of websites looking for your answer, you have a tool that can lay out answers in a clear and concise manner in just a few seconds.
The tool can also point people to businesses both nationally and on a local level. What it cannot do it give the person visiting a true feel for your business, especially if you do not show up in the answer provided by AI.
Furthermore, AI generates almost 85% of its information from information found on websites. This means that if you don’t have a website, then the most powerful search tools in history simply won’t know you exist. In fact, we routinely get hits from Gemini, Grok, and ChatGPT when those LLM‘s have used our content within a search result.
But let’s get away from AI for a minute. Even if you show up in the top 2 or 3 spots in Google’s local business results, how else are potential customers supposed to get a better overall “feel” for your business, your portfolio, and the services you offer?
Let’s say you are looking for a local attorney to handle your case. Before you trust them to handle such an important and potentially impactful aspect of your life you will want to see who they are and what they have done. What cases have they handled? What school did they go to? You will potentially want to read blogs actually written by them to form a better overall opinion.
Showing up in local business results is hard enough but trying to do so is nearly impossible without a website. Although Google claims that having a website is not strictly necessity to show up in local business search results, it admits that having one “enhances your visibility”.
So, a person does a local business or AI search and is served results containing your link. This is where a sleek, well-designed website takes over. Your website should convey your message within the first 3-5 seconds of the new visitor landing on it. They should see these details right off the bat:
- What product or service you offer
- Who you are and what your qualifications are
- How successful you have been or will be at delivering the product or service
If the visitor is interested in finding out more about you or your business, then all off that information is just a few clicks away. Make sure your pages load fast, that the site is well organized, and that they don’t have to close a bunch of pop-ups to see what you have to offer. Because first impressions are everything, annoying your potential client is a terrible way to start off on the right foot.
If you are selling products from your website, then you already know the importance of having a website and products page. There is currently no better way to sell products online than by using a website.
Summary
Not having a website basically opts your business out of AI search results. Not having a website prevents potential clients from learning more about your business in both organic and Local Business Search results.
