With more and more websites incorporating blogs into their online content, if you haven’t yet jumped on the bandwagon, you might want to consider giving it a try. While blogging has been around a long time, website owners have only recently really begun to realize the kind of impact keeping a blog can have on their search engine optimization (SEO). Here is a look at the direct impact a blog can have on your site’s SEO and an overview of some blogging sites available to get started.
There is blog out there for every topic imaginable, however building a blog based on your business and keeping it updated with industry news and information about your company will improve your site in multiple ways. First off, it will meet your SEO criteria for keeping fresh content on your site while simultaneously incorporating in a social media aspect. A blog will also drive web traffic to your site as users repeatedly visit your page to read new blog articles. Finally, writing entries with relevant keywords in a relatable manner will meet search engine criteria for original, natural content.
There are a number of blog platform websites available out there leading to the biggest question, which one to choose? Some of the more popular sites include Blogger, WordPress, and Tumblr. Blogger is one of the oldest blog services still around today. It is very easy to use, especially for those with no HTML/CSS experience. It is also one of the best in terms of link building capability and also offers free hosting. WordPress, while still pretty easy to use, requires a little more knowledge than Blogger. Blog mapping is available on WordPress with online tools like Google Analytics. While some of the services on WordPress are available for free, there are blog “themes” that require payment. Tumblr is everywhere these days and is just continuing to grow. While popular, it requires knowledge of HTML in order to optimize a blog and is not necessarily the best platform to boost SEO.
Starting a blog and incorporating it onto your site may seem daunting but with the right blogging platform and a focus on what type of blog you want to present to your visitors, it will all come together. By simply keeping the blog articles updated regularly and providing quality topics and content, you are performing a major task that is necessary for top search engine results.
