Robinhood Expanding Its Offerings to Include Sports Markets

Robinhood came onto the scene 12 years ago. But it really blew up about 7 to 8 years ago when basically everyone I knew was downloading the app. You could refer your friend and both of you would get a random share of stock as a welcoming gift. The stock could be worth a s little as 5 bucks or it could be as valuable as $200. It was all decided by a random generator. Luckily, I was awarded a share of Microsoft which at that time was worth about $180. Score!

They still actually offer this to new customers. If you use this link, both you and I will get a free random stock: Click Here to Go to Robinhood.

Recently, Robinhood spread its wings and ventured into other markets beside individual shares of stock. Before you knew it, you could buy, sell & trade cryptocurrencies and EFT’s. An Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) is an investment fund that holds a collection of assets like stocks, bonds, or commodities but trades on an exchange like a stock throughout the day. Robinhood is a great tool to start investing and earning profit.

Recently Robinhood has expanded into the “sports investing” industry. You pick the team you think will win straight up and buy a “share” in that team for that particular game. If you take an underdog listed at “25 cents” that means for every 25 cents you put on that team you receive $1 back if you win. If you take the favorite at 75 cents it means that your dollar on earns 25 cents if it cashes.

Speaking of placing money on sports team.. another app which caught our attention recently is called “NoVig”. With this app you can buy tokens to use on your favorite teams. If that team wins you win more tokens. The tokens can then be exchanged for cash. I tried this out last week and actually turned the $5 they gave me for free (just for signing up) into over $100! I cashed out and the money was in my bank account the same day. You can get your free $5 by clicking here to go to NoVig.

The sports investing aspect should really only be used to have a little fun. It’s not a long-term investment guaranteed to yield steady profits. For that kind of investment, you will want to look at stocks, mutual funds, and ETFs.
