Having a Good Website is Still a Must

Many businesses are having great success using their social media to keep customers informed. A Facebook, Instagram or Twitter page can be your number one asset when it comes to communicating directly with your current or potential customers. But, you should never assume that social media can replace your website.
Here are some reasons why social media accounts can never replace a good website:
- Social media website popularity change. As the popularity of some sites grow, others will wane. And you may be missing up to 30% of your customers not being on the social media platform of their choice. New social media platforms pop up all the time.
- Google indexes websites before social media accounts most of the time. Usually, if you search for a company, you will notice their website appears in the search rankings before their social media. Your website may be your one and only shot to secure that new business.
- Older Customers Still Not on Social Media. Even though you hear the jokes about how kids don’t use Facebook anymore because their grandma is on it now, that information should be taken with a grain of salt. Only 64% of adults aged 50-64 use social media. If you have customers older than 50, this is an important stat.
- Social media limitations. Customizing your social media pages can be done to an extent but at the end of the day, it will still look like the social media company’s website. With your own website, you can customize it 100% to bring across your character and the message you are trying to convey.
Your website should be considered the “home base” which contains all your most valuable information and should point to your different media platforms. It should be updated regularly and cared for. Like the old saying goes: “You get out of it what you put into it.”
