Google updates its search engine algorithm core several times per year. Today they have rolled out their second update of 2020.
The overall goal of these roll-outs is to tweak the way Google indexes and serves results for specific search queries. They never really tell the general public what they are addressing when they perform these updates. Here is a tweet from Google announcing this update:
Later today, we are releasing a broad core algorithm update, as we do several times per year. It is called the May 2020 Core Update. Our guidance about such updates remains as we’ve covered before. Please see this blog post for more about that:https://t.co/e5ZQUAlt0G
