optimize your website for user experience now

A facet of website design and development which is often overlooked is one called UX, which is short for User Experience. This metric is exactly what is sounds like. Basically, it means how hard or easy it is for a visitor to view pages and find information they are looking for.

Key elements of UX in web design include:

  • Usability: How easy it is to navigate and complete tasks.
  • Information Architecture: Organizing content logically for intuitive access.
  • Visual Design: Aesthetics that enhance usability and engagement.
  • Interaction Design: Creating responsive and interactive elements, like buttons or forms.
  • Performance: Fast load times and smooth functionality.

Things that can harm your user experience are slow loading speed, big clunky graphics, cluttered pages, & no clear call to action or theme. Don’t Use Pop-ups Unless Absolutely Necessary.

You should get into the habit of routinely visiting your own site as if you were a visitor or customer. If something doesn’t look or feel quite right for you then the same probably holds true for your visitors. Have your friends or colleagues visit the site as well and don’t take any negative feedback personally. Feedback should be valued as it will help you create the best site possible.

Half of all websites on the internet are on the WordPress platform. This platform makes it easy for webmasters and business owners to update content on the fly. It allows them to add features which can make the site much more useful or functional.

One mistake web designers make in regards to WordPress is adding too many plug-ins. Not only can it make the site clunky but it can also slow it down quite  a bit. Only use the necessary amount of plug-ins on your site. Don’t try to stuff everything into one basket. A good saying to remember when adding features or plug-ins to your site is: Just Because You Can Doesn’t Mean You Should.

Test your website speed often. If your site doesn’t load in a second or two then you have some work to do. People will simply back out of your site and look elsewhere if the pages doesn’t load efficiently.
