Melbourne Florida is a small to medium sized coastal beach town located on the central east coast of Florida. The city itself has roughly 100,000 residents but Melbourne and surrounding areas have about a quarter million people combined.

Melbourne saw a population boom in the 1960’s when NASA revved up their efforts to get to the moon. Ever since that decade, Melbourne has been home to many people working in the scientific and space fields.

The population has intensated and waned over the years as space projects came and went but companies like Lockheed Martin and Harris have been a mainstay of the area. SpaceX currently has a solid presence in the area.
